Insurance Advisor | Hebden Bridge | Full-time preferred; part-time considered for the right candidate | £23,000 - £25,000 per annum

Our client is an independent, personal insurance company, offering friendly service at competitive prices from their offices in Huddersfield, Hebden Bridge and Sheffield.

The role of Insurance Advisor involves providing expert insurance advice and professional support to clients, helping them to navigate the complexities of insurance. The Insurance Advisor will work with both individuals and businesses to understand their needs, assess their risks and recommend suitable insurance products from various insurance providers to secure appropriate cover in line with their needs and will also manage the overall insurance process by acting as an intermediary between clients and insurance companies.

Please note- this role is primarily based in Hebden Bridge, with occasional work required at our Huddersfield office.

Are you the right person for the job?

• Experience working in an office environment - ideally in the business of insurance. (Desired)
• Educated to A-Level (or equivalent) standard and hold GCSE Mathematics and English. (Desired)
• PC/computer literate, with good keyboard skills.
• Knowledge and experience of using the internet, MS Office systems including Excel, Word and Outlook and have experience of insurance software, merchant services and CRM systems. (Desired)
• Confident and professional communicator – front facing, verbal and written (desired)
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team – be a “team player”.
• Be able to maintain accurate and up-to-date records with a high level of attention to detail with solid organisational and time management skills.
• Honest and Trustworthy with an understanding of the sensitivity and confidentiality of the information handled in relation to Data Protection regulations and FCA requirements.
• Ability to complete the required Continual Professional Development (CPD) tasks as set by the company
• Willingness to seek and learn new skills and improve performance, taking responsibility for own professional development and be prepared to attend and/or complete further education to obtain relevant further qualifications for personal development

What will your role look like?

This list is not exhaustive and could perceivably include anything reasonably requested in line with working day-to-day in a busy insurance broker's office:

• Answering external and internal telephone calls
• Receiving and responding to emails, posts and/or any other correspondence
• Face-to-face communication with customers and/or other visitors or representatives
• General Insurance Broking tasks (including, but not limited to):

• Understanding a client’s specific circumstances, financial situation and risk tolerance to identify appropriate insurance solutions
• Researching various insurance policies from different providers and recommending the most suitable options based on the client’s needs
• Negotiating with insurance companies or providers to secure the best possible terms and conditions for the client’s chosen policy
• Handling policy renewals, amendments, and cancellations, ensuring that all records are kept accurate and up to date
• Handling client payments and refunds in a secure and timely manner within company payment terms and FCA client money rules, whilst also ensuring that all Credit Control requirements are resolved speedily
• Guiding clients through the claims process, providing support and advice to ensure a smooth and efficient experience
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, providing ongoing support and advice
• Ensuring that all activities comply with both company and FCA regulations and maintain accurate and secure records of all activities
• Ensuring all workloads are maintained in a timely and compliant manner, with any regular tasks being promptly dealt with and completed in advance of any agreed leave of absence
• Contributing to the growth and profitability of the company by meeting or exceeding sales targets and existing client retention
• Providing holiday/absence cover elsewhere in the company where required
• Maintaining a professional demeanour in accordance with company expectations
• Maintaining confidentiality and protecting sensitive company information
• Undertaking any other duties and ad-hoc tasks as reasonably required or requested by the Line Manager, Senior Management or the Board of Directors
