About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Secondary Teaching Assistant to join a well-respected and inclusive school in the area of Wakefield. This is a full-time position, starting this September, working with students across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will be a vital part of our school's mission to provide a supportive and engaging learning environment where every student can achieve their full potential.

Requirements
  • A minimum of a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent experience).
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one).
  • A genuine passion for helping students overcome barriers to learning.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Experience working with young people in an educational or similar setting is desirable.

  • Behaviour Management: The ability to support classroom discipline and promote positive student behaviour.
Responsibilities
  • Assisting the classroom teacher with lesson preparation and delivery.
  • Providing one-on-one and small group support to students.
  • Helping students with special educational needs (SEN) or those who are struggling academically.
  • Listening to students read and helping to develop their literacy skills.
  • Creating and preparing classroom displays and resources.
  • Supporting the teacher in managing classroom behaviour.
  • Supervising students during break times, lunch, or on trips.
  • Helping to develop and implement individualised learning plans.
  • Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to the teacher.
  • Supporting students with their social and emotional development.
  • Ensuring the health and safety of students in the classroom and around the school.
