About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Secondary Teaching Assistant to join a well-respected and inclusive school in the area of Wakefield. This is a full-time position, starting this September, working with students across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will be a vital part of our school's mission to provide a supportive and engaging learning environment where every student can achieve their full potential.

Requirements- A minimum of a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent experience).
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one).
- A genuine passion for helping students overcome barriers to learning.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Good literacy and numeracy skills.
- Experience working with young people in an educational or similar setting is desirable.
- Patience and Empathy: To support students with diverse needs and challenges.
- Communication: The ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
- Adaptability and Flexibility: To handle the dynamic and unpredictable nature of a school environment.
- Organisational Skills: To manage resources, prepare materials, and support lesson planning.
- Teamwork: To collaborate effectively with teachers and other staff members.
- Behaviour Management: The ability to support classroom discipline and promote positive student behaviour.
- Assisting the classroom teacher with lesson preparation and delivery.
- Providing one-on-one and small group support to students.
- Helping students with special educational needs (SEN) or those who are struggling academically.
- Listening to students read and helping to develop their literacy skills.
- Creating and preparing classroom displays and resources.
- Supporting the teacher in managing classroom behaviour.
- Supervising students during break times, lunch, or on trips.
- Helping to develop and implement individualised learning plans.
- Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to the teacher.
- Supporting students with their social and emotional development.
- Ensuring the health and safety of students in the classroom and around the school.
