About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Secondary Teaching Assistant to join our thriving school community in Bradford, starting this September. This is a full-time role for a compassionate and resilient individual who wants to make a real difference in the lives of young learners. Requirements:

  • A minimum of a Level 2 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (or equivalent).
  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally in a school setting.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
  • A good standard of written and numeracy skills.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.

  • Excellent Communication: Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills to liaise with students, staff, and parents.
  • Empathy and Emotional Intelligence: The capacity to understand and respond to the emotional needs of students.
  • Adaptability: The flexibility to work across different subjects, age groups, and with varying learning needs.
  • Organisational Skills: Strong time management and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Behaviour Management: The skill to implement agreed strategies to support positive student behaviour.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the teacher with the preparation of lesson materials and resources.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students.
  • Help students with their reading, writing, and numeracy skills.
  • Support the implementation of agreed learning activities under the guidance of the teacher.
  • Supervise students during classroom activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Assist students with homework or study tasks.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to the teacher.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and promote a positive learning environment.
  • Support students with special educational needs (SEN) or other additional learning requirements.
