What's the Job?
We’re looking for a motivated and customer-focused Student Journey Assistant to join our busy and friendly Student Journey Team. You’ll play a key role in supporting our admissions and onboarding processes - helping students apply, enrol, and get started at College with confidence.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment, solving problems on the go, and making a real difference to the student experience. You’ll be working across both digital systems and face-to-face interactions to deliver excellent service at every stage of the journey - from first enquiry through to enrolment.
Hours
08:45-16:30 – standard working hours, Monday-Friday with occasional evening or weekend work as required
Other Benefits
Access to an excellent defined-benefit pension scheme
Up to 45 days annual leave (including bank holidays and college closure dates)
Opportunities for career progression and personal development
Who we’re looking for
We are seeking an enthusiastic and well-organised individual who thrives in a people-focused environment and takes pride in delivering excellent service. You will bring strong attention to detail, the ability to multitask, and a proactive approach to supporting others. While experience in an educational setting is welcome, it is not essential - what matters most is your professionalism, adaptability, and commitment to creating a positive experience for all.
Applicants should possess:
A qualification at SCQF Level 7 or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline such as communication, business, digital skills, or customer service
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of people
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, particularly in a fast-paced environment
Confidence in using digital systems and databases to manage and process information accurately and efficiently
The ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a small team
A proactive and solution-focused approach to problem-solving
Experience working with international students or knowledge of UKVI compliance would be advantageous but is not essential.
Who we are
Dumfries and Galloway College the biggest provider of education and training in the south of Scotland. We’re a further and higher education college and a leading voice in green skills development to help tackle climate change. We’re also the small institution winner of the UK and Ireland’s Sustainability Institution of the Year award for 2020.
With campuses in Dumfries and Stranraer, we are one of the main employers in the region, employing a few hundred staff in roles intended to help attract, retain and deliver for our learners.
We strive to equip all members of our college community with the skills, knowledge, and practical experience they need to get ahead, whether that’s moving further into education or going onto employment.
How to apply
If you are interested, please complete the online application form via the Dumfries and Galloway College website by the closing date indicated below.
For further information, please contact Claire Marshall, Student Journey Manager at marshallc@dumgal.ac.uk
Closing Date: Friday 29th August
What happens next
Interviews for successful applicants will be held w/c 8th September
What else you need to know
If you’re invited for interview, you will be required to evidence your right to work in the UK.
If you’re successful in securing the role, your employment will be conditional on the college receiving two satisfactory references and background checks.
