Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Client Representative to oversee trenching operations within an offshore wind project. The successful candidate will act as the primary liaison between the client and contractors, ensuring trenching activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project specifications and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent the client on-site during trenching operations.
  • Monitor and report on contractor performance and adherence to project plans.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE regulations and offshore standards.
  • Provide daily progress updates and maintain accurate records.
  • Liaise with project teams to resolve operational issues.
  • Uphold quality assurance and control throughout the trenching scope.

Key aspects of the work scope include:

Pre-lay trenching:

  • Creating trenches before the cables are laid to minimize potential damage during installation and ensure proper burial depth.

Post-lay trenching:

  • Burying cables after they have been laid, often using jet trenching or other methods to achieve the required burial depth.

De-burial:

  • Recovering cables for maintenance, repair, or replacement, which can involve specialized tools to cut and retrieve the cables.

Boulder and debris removal:

  • Clearing obstacles like boulders or debris from the cable route to ensure safe and efficient trenching and cable burial.

Cable protection:

  • Implementing measures like rock placement or backfilling to protect the buried cables from damage.

Survey and inspection:

  • Conducting surveys to identify suitable cable routes, assess soil conditions, and verify the depth and condition of the buried cables.

Vessel and equipment mobilization:

  • Deploying specialized vessels (e.g., multi-purpose support vessels, trenching support vessels) and equipment (e.g., jet trenchers, remotely operated vehicles (ROVs)) to the site.

Project management and engineering:

  • Managing the overall trenching operations, including planning, scheduling, and engineering support.

Requirements:

  • Full GWOs (Sea Survival, Fire Awareness, First Aid, Manual Handling, Working at Heights)
  • OGUK / RUK Medical & Chester Step

Experience:

  • Demonstrable Offshore Trenching Experience
  • 5+ Years in a Team Lead, Client Representative or Supervisory Position within Offshore Wind or similar sectors

Additional Information:

This is a short-term contract with a single rotation, ideal for professionals with immediate availability and relevant offshore experience. Candidates must be fully certified and cleared prior to mobilisation.
