Are you an experienced Project Director with the leadership capability to drive high-value construction delivery within a Tier 1 environment?

We are working with a leading Tier 1 contractor who is seeking a confident and experienced Project Director to take charge of major project operations based in Cambridge. You'll lead a multidisciplinary team of 12 across planning, commercial, site delivery, and engineering – ensuring the seamless execution of complex construction schemes.

This is a high-impact role, requiring strong leadership, strategic oversight, and a firm grasp of Tier 1 procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the full project lifecycle from pre-construction through to completion and handover


  • Oversee and coordinate a team of 12 professionals including Project Managers, Engineers, and Commercial staff


  • Ensure adherence to programme, budget, quality, and health & safety standards across the project


  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, consultants, and subcontractors


  • Apply Tier 1 governance processes including risk management, reporting, commercial controls, and compliance


  • Contribute to strategic decision-making at both project and regional level


    Required Experience & Skills:

    • Proven experience in a senior project leadership role – ideally as Project Director or Senior Project Manager delivering large-scale builds


    • Tier 1 main contractor experience strongly preferred


    • Strong understanding of Tier 1 processes, systems, and reporting structures


    • Exceptional leadership, commercial awareness, and communication skills


    • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and complex delivery environments


    • Relevant construction qualifications (SMSTS, CSCS Black/Platinum card, or equivalent)
