Who we are
You may not have heard of us, but you’ll know our brands. AS Watson is the world’s largest international health and beauty retailer, with
over 16,800 stores in 29 markets. Each year, over 5.3 billion customers and
members shop with our retail brands, both online and offline — including
Superdrug, Kruidvat, Watsons, Marionnaud, The Perfume Shop, and many more.
At AS Watson, we’re focused on building a digitally fluent and future-ready
workforce. In this strategic role, you’ll lead the People Development
agenda for our European Group Offices — with a specific focus on enabling
digital skills, innovation, and AI-readiness across the organisation. You’ll
partner with business leaders to drive capability building, career development,
and leadership growth aligned to our digital transformation goals.
Reporting to the Head of People, you’ll work closely with global and
regional teams to co-create impactful, modern learning experiences. You’ll help
land our digital learning priorities, shape skills-based learning journeys, and
ensure our people are equipped to thrive in a rapidly evolving environment.
A typical day in this role includes:
• Designing and implementing a forward-looking development strategy that
embeds digital and AI capabilities at its core.
• Leading the sharing of learning insights and best practices across markets to
accelerate cross-functional upskilling.
• Collaborating with Asia teams to co-create Group-wide learning initiatives
aligned to global capability priorities.
• Developing dynamic learning paths that support career growth and
transitions—from foundational to advanced digital skills.
• Shaping and delivering leadership development programmes and coaching
offers to prepare leaders for digital transformation.
• Partnering with senior stakeholders to map future skills and translate them
into structured, relevant learning journeys.
• Owning and improving talent management processes (performance,
development, succession) that directly feed into the development strategy.
• Overseeing the design of modular, accessible, and scalable content tailored
to individual learning needs and digital maturity levels.
• Using data and analytics to track skill gaps, enhance succession
planning, and personalise the learner experience.
• Building a strong, inclusive learning culture where people are encouraged to
explore, innovate, and grow continuously.
This role would be a great fit if:
• You’re passionate about digital upskilling and understand how learning
can power transformation.
• You’ve built learning and leadership development programmes that support
business innovation and agility.
• You stay ahead of trends in AI, digital skills, and future of work,
and know how to turn these into scalable learning initiatives.
• You bring deep expertise in performance data, feedback loops, and learner
analytics to continuously improve development journeys.
• You’re a strategic thinker with excellent stakeholder management and
storytelling skills.
What you’ll need:
• Proven experience developing people strategies in digitally evolving
organisations across multiple geographies.
• Strong knowledge of learning platforms, digital content curation,
skills mapping, and behavioural assessments.
• A track record in implementing digital leadership pathways and
role-based development frameworks.
• Experience integrating coaching and peer learning into blended development
offers.
• Familiarity with tools like Degreed, EdCast, LinkedIn Learning, or similar
platforms.
• The ability to turn complexity into clarity, bringing people with you on a
journey of transformation.
What you’ll get from us:
• A competitive salary and bonus scheme.
• A collaborative, cross-functional international team with a strong focus on learning,
innovation, and agility.
• Flexibility in how and where you work (hybrid working model).
• Access to cutting-edge learning tools and global development programmes.
• A culture that celebrates curiosity, collaboration, and continuous
improvement.
