The South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLAM) Eating Disorders Service providesadultOutpatient and Day Service treatment from the Maudsley Hospital site, wherea brand new, purpose designed DayServices unit opened in April 2021.


This postwillprovideadditionaldieteticinputfor acontinuouslyexpanding service. Working alongsideotherBand 7 specialistdietitian. The post holder willplan andprovidedietetic assessment and treatment foradultservice userswith a range of eating disorder diagnosesunder the care of the Dayand Outpatient Services.


The post holder will benefitfrom the learning and support available from being based within theeating disordersmultidisciplinary team andmaintaina professional link with the wider SLAM dietetics service.


As a member of the eating disordersDayServicesandOutpatientmulti-disciplinary teams(MDT) to:


Working inconjunction withother band 7Specialist Dietitians(Outpatient and Day Services),todevelopappropriate servicestandards, care pathways and materials for the dietetics service, and contributeto MDT service development andevaluation


Carry a complex caseload, using evidence based and clientcentredprinciples to assess, plan, implement and evaluateinterventions


Organiseand provide supervision and training for junior staff andstudents


Provideadviceandinformationtothehospitalfoodserviceprovider,sothattheneeds of service users aremet


Guide theMDT on the effective implementation of the Trust’s nutrition screening and care planningprogramme


Support the service by providing information and training forcolleagues

Working in conjunction with theotherBand 7 Specialist Dietitians,plan and providea responsive and effective dietetic assessment and treatment forservice users under the care oftheOutpatient andDay Services ofthe specialist eating disorders service. This will include:
• Developingappropriate dieteticpathways integrated into MDT pathways.

• Evaluatingthedieteticsclinicalservicebysettingappropriatestandards,planningand collecting clinical and patient experience outcome data, and using these to plan and conduct regular audits of theservice.

• Working closely with colleagues in administration to manage and prioritise the caseload, and ensure referrals are processed smoothly andefficiently.

• Assessingserviceusersbyinterviewingtheserviceuser,and carersifappropriate;using clinicalinformationavailablefromothersources,makingandusinganthropometricand other clinical measurements, and requesting and interpretingadditionalclinical tests asappropriate.

• Collaborating closely with colleagues to manage medical risk, which may besevere

• Based onthe assessment information, and the evidence base, working in close.collaboration with the service user to produce care plans for dietetic treatment. usingappropriate carepathways whenapplicable.
