Are you an experienced physiotherapist with a passion for working with older people and people with dementia?

Do you have the skills and knowledge necessary to manage a complex and varied caseload in mental health inpatient settings?

Are you able to lead others with kindness, togetherness and respect?

We are looking for a Highly Specialist Physiotherapist to lead on the planning, co-ordination and delivery of physiotherapy provision across our Older Adult Inpatient Services.

The role will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to combine their physiotherapy specific skills with leadership skills to share their clinical know how and build on the physiotherapy profile within a multi-disciplinary team environment.

The role is based at the Physiotherapy Department at the Maudsley Hospital however, cross site cover across Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham and the Royal Bethlem Hospital, Bromley is required.

• Line management responsibilities for a small team
• Clinical face to face work is required with services users on inpatient wards to provide specialist interventions for complex Service Users
• Involvement in the management and prevention of falls on inpatients older adult wards
• Promotion of physical activity throughout the service





You will work across 4 main inpatient sites: Aubrey Lewis 1, Maudsley Hospital, SE5 8AZ, Chesham House situated in the Bethlem Royal Hospital Monks Orchard Road, Beckenham, Kent, BR3 3BX and Greenvale Specialist Care Unit, located at Voss Court, Streatham, SW16 3BS and finally, Hayworth Ward, located at the Ladywell Unit, SE13 6LH. This role provides the opportunity to lead and work with a team who work with service users with a wide range of mental health conditions and dementia.

The majority of the wards provide assessment, treatment and care for people aged over 65 with acute mental illness or those of all ages who have dementia. Greenvale Specialist Care Unit provides treatment for older people with predominantly complex organic mental health problems. The unit is specifically for service users who could not be safely treated in the community, but who do not require continued admission in an acute psychiatric ward.

To provide a direct clinical service across the Older Adult Inpatient Service.

To have a high profile across the Older Adult Inpatient Services, advocating the benefits of physiotherapy for service users.

To oversee and maintain up to date written and electronic records and activity data, in accordance with professional and Trust Standards.

To provide strong professional leadership to improve and develop physiotherapy services in line with service and service user needs, directorate and trust objectives and legislative requirements.
