The successful applicant with be working as part of a small team in an industrial kitchen providing meals to people with varied diets.

The role of a kitchen assistant will be expected to:
Assist in the preparation of all food and beverages as and when required, as directed by the cook, assistant cook or manager, whilst ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
To prepare and serve food in accordance with defined standards and quality, working within CQC /OFSTED guidelines regarding current health safety and hygiene legislation and Health and Safety policy, with the aim of achieving high standards of customer care and good quality at low cost.
To help to maintain excellent standards within the kitchen to meet the needs of environmental health and to help maintain current hygiene rating of 5 star.
To promote and participate in a proactive approach to Health and Safety in the delivery of all catering operations.
To keep abreast of new initiatives, systems, and regulations through regular training.
Promote effective waste management within the kitchen.
Safeguard people’s human rights at all times and ensure that the care and support provided, protects people, and ensures their safety and well-being.
Work as part of a team, to provide practical, emotional and flexible care and support, geared to the needs and goals of the individual, as identified within their Care Plan.
Kitchen Assistants perform a range of duties around the kitchen, including:
Washing, peeling and preparing food ingredients
Using equipment such as mixers, special knives and cutters
Reviewing kitchen inventory and determining what items are needed
Unloading fresh supplies and organising the stockroom
Checking sell-by dates and rotating food stock
Cleaning kitchen appliances and equipment
Observing cooking times and correct temperatures

A starting salary of £24,796 - £25,185 (pro rata if working less than 37 hours per week)
