Qualified Social Worker – Learning Disabilities & Autism - 3D Recruit
Job Purpose
To deliver high-quality, person-centred social work in line with the Care Act 2014, the Mental Capacity Act, and other relevant legislation. This role involves managing a complex caseload of adults with learning disabilities and/or autism, undertaking statutory responsibilities, and contributing to safeguarding, risk management, and service development. The post holder will also take part in the team duty rota and collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure effective care planning and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Care Management and Casework
Undertake Care Act assessments, support planning, reviews, and risk assessments.
Manage a caseload of adults with learning disabilities and autism, ensuring timely and accurate case recording (e.g., using Mosaic).
Complete statutory duties in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act, including mental capacity assessments and best interest decisions.
Carry out safeguarding enquiries under Section 42 of the Care Act and within local multi-agency frameworks.
Participate in the duty system to respond to new referrals, emergencies, and safeguarding concerns.
Apply strengths-based, person-centred approaches to all interventions and care plans.
Work closely with health professionals, families, providers, and other stakeholders to ensure high-quality, coordinated care.
Identify and mitigate risks in accordance with Merton Care Management Procedures and relevant safeguarding protocols.
Essential Requirements
Qualified Social Worker with current registration (e.g., Social Work England)
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in adult social care, particularly working with individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism
Comprehensive knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act, DoLS, and safeguarding legislation
Skilled in managing complex caseloads and making sound professional judgments under pressure
Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated commitment to person-centred, strengths-based, and evidence-informed practice
