As part of the Operations Catchment Services (OCS) Water Resources & Strategic Planning Team, you will work with, and support colleagues in ensuring that Water Companies have robust & resilient strategic plans to ensure resilient water supplies for the future, whilst protecting and enhancing the environment.
The role will require working directly with the Water Industry on their statutory requirements to build resilience at both Company and Regional level at a time of climate change and the challenges this brings at a local, regional, and national level.
As part of this role, you will:
• work in & support virtual teams in the delivery of water resources work as well as an opportunity to develop your own skills, knowledge, and experience to enhance your career opportunities with the Environment Agency.
• provide technical support for water company leads
• provide administrative support to the wider teams.
• work on pieces of technical WR work in support of the wider aims and goals of the Environment Agency.
• have the opportunity to broaden your experience by being part of a wide array of different groups working on People, Health Safety and Wellbeing, Equality Diversity and Inclusion, where bringing people together will enhance the output and support the wider operation.
• Be flexible during peak workload times, undertaking tasks to deliver statutory duties linked to individual water companies.

The role will require some travel to Environment Agency sites, external meetings and occasional overnight stays.
The team
The role is in the National OCS Water Resources-Team, we advise Water Companies on their statutory requirements to supply water to the Public, Agriculture & Industry, alongside internal & external partners such as Natural England. Our main customers are Water Companies.

Experience/skills required
- Educated to A level standard or equivalent in a scientific discipline.
- Effective communication skills.
- Positive & Enthusiastic attitude.
- Able to respond positively to change.
- Able to work as part of a team or independently off your own initiative.
- A basic working knowledge of Microsoft applications, word, outlook & excel.
- Good data analysis skills.
- Experience of achieving work/tasks against timescales.
- Experience of working with customers.
Desirable but not essential
- Basic knowledge of Water resources work would be advantageous but not essential.
- Experience of using office 360, including SharePoint.
