Our client, a respected school in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Full-time Learning Support Assistant (SEN) to join their supportive team. This position offers a competitive salary range of £84.05 - £90 per day and is a term-time only role, allowing for a healthy work-life balance.
As a Learning Support Assistant (SEN), you will play a crucial role in supporting students with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the necessary guidance and assistance to thrive academically and socially. Working closely with teachers and other support staff, you will contribute to creating an inclusive and nurturing learning environment that caters to the unique needs of each student.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Providing one-to-one and small group support to students with special educational needs, adapting learning materials and activities to suit their individual requirements
- Collaborating with teachers to develop and implement personalised learning plans and strategies that promote student progress and achievement
- Encouraging student participation in classroom activities and fostering a positive learning atmosphere
- Monitoring and recording student progress, maintaining accurate records, and providing regular feedback to teachers and parents
- Assisting with the preparation of learning resources and displays to create an engaging and stimulating classroom environment
- Supporting students with personal care needs, such as mobility, hygiene, and medical requirements, as necessary
- Supervising students during breaks, lunchtimes, and on educational visits, ensuring their safety and well-being
To be considered for this rewarding position, you should possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- A minimum of a Level 2 qualification in a relevant subject, such as childcare, education, or special needs support
- Previous experience working with children or young people with special educational needs, either in an educational or care setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
- A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to working with students who have diverse needs and abilities
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the capacity to prioritise tasks effectively
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
- Proficiency in using technology to support learning, such as interactive whiteboards, tablets, and educational software
Desirable qualifications and experience:
- A relevant Level 3 qualification or higher in education, special needs, or a related field
- Training in specific areas of special educational needs, such as autism, ADHD, or speech and language difficulties
- First Aid and/or manual handling training
