SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1 ASD Support - EYFS Curriculum)
Location: DE6, Derbyshire
Day Rate: £95-£105 per day (term time only)
Contract: Long-term to permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM
Start Date: 1st September 2025
Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting pupils with ASD? Do you have a calm, nurturing approach and a solid understanding of EYFS-level learning?
Long Term Futures are working with a warm and inclusive primary school in the DE6 area to appoint a SEN Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a Year 4 pupil with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). Although in Key Stage 2, the pupil follows an individualised curriculum at EYFS level, so familiarity with early years approaches and sensory regulation strategies is essential.
This full-time role begins in September 2025 and offers the opportunity to go permanent for the right candidate. The school is part of a supportive multi-academy trust and is known for its nurturing ethos and commitment to inclusion.
Your Responsibilities:
- Deliver consistent 1:1 support for a pupil with complex needs in Year 4
- Follow a personalised EYFS-level curriculum focused on communication and sensory integration
- Use tools such as PECS, visual timetables, and structured play
- Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals
- Monitor emotional regulation and respond appropriately to sensory needs
- Foster independence, engagement, and a sense of security

- A Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning (or equivalent)
- Experience supporting pupils with ASD or significant developmental delay
- Strong understanding of the EYFS framework and sensory processing strategies
- Calm, patient, and proactive with a commitment to consistency and structure
- Confident delivering tailored learning activities and 1:1 interventions
