About the role

Renewable energy and sustainable engineering industries are constantly developing and innovating. In this role you will be able to be part of this important and growing sector and work in laboratories dedicated to renewable energies and sustainable engineering. These labs include experimental and test facilities on renewable energy systems including Wind lab and wind turbines, Solar PV, H2 generation, Fuel Cells, New Energy Lab (NEL) for energy management, the Electric Vehicle lab, Micro Gas Turbine - Micro Combined Heat and Power Lab, Electrical Machines and Power Systems lab and the Thin Film Laboratory including, Plastic electronics, Solar OPV, OLED, OFET, fabrication and characterisation, and organic material investigations.

You will work to guide students through their renewable and sustainable journeys and contribute to research projects coming through from the Centre for Renewable and Sustainable Engineering.

Main Responsibilities

Provide expert-level support for complex technical issues, including diagnosing, troubleshooting and resolving problems related to equipment or software and ensure timely and effective resolution of technical issues to minimise disruptions.
Install, configure, maintain and operate technical equipment according to University requirements and best practice. Ensure that systems are set up correctly and optimised for performance and security.
Monitor the performance and health of technical equipment, perform regular maintenance tasks, and health and safety audits to ensure equipment reliability and safety.
Create and maintain teaching materials and detailed documentation for technical processes and troubleshooting procedures. Develop materials and provide technical training and instruction to staff, students, external collaborators and other technical staff.
Assist in the planning, execution and management of technical projects such as laboratory, studio and workshop upgrades, or major equipment replacement. Collaborate with project teams to ensure that technical aspects are completed successfully and align with project goals.
Communicate effectively with staff, students, external parties and stakeholders to understand their technical needs and provide solutions. Manage expectations and provide updates on the status of issues, projects and service requests.
