Are you looking for a place where you’re truly supported—by your team, your workplace culture, and your schedule?

Do you want to work somewhere you’re not just a number, but a valued part of a close-knit community?

Join a genuinely friendly, independent small animal practice in a popular Essex market town, just a stone’s throw from Southend-on-Sea. They are looking for a fourth vet to join their team—someone who’s passionate about high-quality, compassionate care, and who enjoys being part of a collaborative, upbeat environment.

Why This Practice?

This is a family-owned, independent practice—meaning they make their own decisions. From choosing the best suppliers and medicines to shaping how they care for clients and pets, they do things their way—with integrity, kindness, and purpose.

The owners are fully hands-on and work alongside you every day. You’ll be part of a team that includes two other vets (with special interests in internal medicine, dermatology, ultrasound, and ophthalmology), five wonderful RVNs, three friendly receptionists, and a brilliant Practice Administrator.

What You'll Love About Working Here

• A genuinely supportive culture where ideas are shared, learning is encouraged, and teamwork is everything
• A client base that is kind, loyal, and values your work
• Excellent on-site facilities including full diagnostic, imaging, and surgical capabilities—plus separate dog and cat wards
• A healthy work-life balance with a 4-day week, 1 in 4 Saturdays (9am–4pm), and no overnight, Sunday, or bank holiday shifts thanks to an excellent local OOH provider
• A beautiful location near countryside and coast, with direct trains to London in under an hour and easy access to two airports

Who We’re Looking For

You’re a vet with a few years’ experience, confident in routine surgery, and keen to continue developing your clinical skills. But most of all:

• You genuinely care—about your patients, clients, and your colleagues
• You believe in treating families with empathy and honesty
• You enjoy being part of a team, sharing knowledge, and learning from others
• You see general practice as a specialty in its own right, and you take pride in doing it well

Location:

Based in a welcoming market town with a real community feel, you’re just minutes from Southend’s beaches, cafés, and culture—and surrounded by open spaces like Hockley Woods and the Essex coastline. Whether it’s city, sea, or green space you crave, this location has it all.

If this sounds like the kind of place you’ve been looking for, I would love to hear from you. Get in touch for an informal chat—no pressure, just a friendly conversation about what could be next.

The Package:

• A generous salary package of £45,000 - £65,000 DOE
• A 4-day week, with just 1:4 Saturdays and no OOH
• Relocation package and temporary accommodation available
• CPD is actively encouraged and supported, including certificates
• Access to Central CPD on demand and RCVS Knowledge Library
• 5.6 weeks’ holiday, including bank holidays
• RCVS and VDS fees paid by us
• Private healthcare insurance
• Cycle to work scheme
• Group Life insurance policy for 3 x salary
• Open to visa sponsorship for the right candidate
