This full-time, term-time only position is ideal for graduates considering careers in Educational Psychology, SEN education, or child development. As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll gain valuable hands-on experience supporting pupils with additional needs—such as autism, ADHD, and emotional or social challenges—helping them grow in confidence and achieve their potential.
Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant – Key Responsibilities
• Deliver targeted support for pupils with SEN, both in 1:1 and small group settings
• Assist in the implementation of behaviour plans and learning interventions
• Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to meet individual pupil needs
• Foster emotional wellbeing and positive social interactions
• Adapt lesson materials and activities to support differentiated learning
• Help create a calm, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant – Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a compassionate and motivated graduate who meets the following criteria:
• A minimum 2:1 degree in Psychology, Education, or a related discipline
• Strong interest in SEN, education, and mental health support
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Patient, empathetic, and proactive in approach
• Experience working with children or young people (e.g., in schools, youth groups, care, or tutoring) – desirable
• Keen to pursue a career in SEN teaching, educational psychology, or related fields
