Summary of the role: The Car and Light Van Technician’s role within TruckEast is to be responsible for maintaining cars and vans along with preparing and presenting vehicles for MOT.
Hourly rate: up to £18.50 per hour dependant upon experience
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00-16:00, with a 30-minute paid break
What are we looking for in a candidate?
Technical qualification (City & Guilds level 3 or NVQ qualified technician) or knowledge gained through time served
Current driving licence
Flexibility to undertake a wide range of tasks
Computer literate
Awareness and understanding of Health and Safety requirements
Ability to work within guidelines and to deadlines
Ability to work as a team
Excellent customer care skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
What does the role involve?
Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on all makes of vehicles
Diagnose and rectify all types of faults
Attend disabled vehicles at the roadside or at customer’s premises
Ensure all vehicles worked upon are handled carefully and that all precautions are taken whilst on the premises
Liaise with parts department to attain parts
Ensure appropriate clocking is made, all job cards and service sheets are completed in a timely manner
Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness
Maintain a thorough and current product knowledge and attend training courses
Any other duties relevant to the smooth and efficient operation of the department as determined by your manager
