Location: Stoke
Hours: Monday to Friday, 38.75hours
Salary: DOE
Duration: 6 months +
Temporary contract to start as soon as possible
The role:
Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Costing Officer to play a key role in their dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven professional with a strong background in cost analysis and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will bring a solid understanding of costing principles, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

Main duties:
Utilise costing systems and relevant data sources to generate accurate product costs aligned with established Cost and Management Accounting standards
Collaborate closely with production teams to support and enhance the functionality of the manufacturing costing system
Oversee the calculation, reporting, and interpretation of inventory valuations in compliance with applicable accounting regulations
Partner with senior management and sales teams to deliver detailed cost and margin analyses for new product initiatives and promotional campaigns
Maintain a comprehensive database of sourced product purchases, using this data as the foundation for the annual development of standard costings
Conduct weekly reviews of stock levels and production data to contribute to the company's business performance metrics
Analyse perpetual inventory records and provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership to ensure compliance with internal controls and inventory policies
About you:
Demonstrated background in a comparable position, preferably within manufacturing, retail, or the FMCG sector
In-depth knowledge of standard cost structures, margin evaluation, and variance analysis
Exceptional analytical thinking and strong numerical acumen
Highly proficient in advanced Excel functions; familiarity with ERP systems is a strong plus
Meticulous with a keen eye for detail and skilled at making sense of complex datasets
Clear and confident communicator, both in writing and when speaking
