Locum Registrar post (full time) for the Rheumatology Department at St Mary’s Hospital (SMH). We deliver out-patient, in-patient, and Rheumatology referral service across the three main hospital sites. The post is mainly based at SMH with on clinic at the Hammersmith Lupus Centre. If the post is extended, it will be mainly based at the Hammersmith Hospital (HH) with possibly one day at Charing Cross Hospital (CXH). We receive an estimated 177 referrals/month, we have a dedicated Early Inflammatory Arthritis and specialist Lupus and Vasculitis clinics. We regularly review inpatients form other specialties in the Trust as requested and electively admit Rheumatology patients as needed. We accept transfer of inpatients from other wards or Trusts as we are a tertiary referral centre for specialist rheumatology. We are active in several research activities including basic science, translation research, national and international registries and randomised clinical research trials.
The post holder will contribute to outpatient clinics, not more than 4 clinics/week, and review referrals and rheumatology in-patients at St Mary’s Hospital. They will advise the clinical activities of the nurse specialists’ team and support the day to day duties of the department. There will be opportunity to develop a special interest in rarer disease and gain experience in the management of complex rheumatology patients both in the outpatient as well as in-patient setting.

The post holder will contribute to outpatient clinics including a mix of general rheumatology, early inflammatory arthritis clinics and also specialist clinici.e.SLE. The post-holder will be able to attend and contribute to multiple MDTs including radiology and rheumatology MDT, SLE MDT, vasculitis MDT, ILD/rheumatology MDT. In addition, there is opportunity to support the early inflammatory audit, CTD dashboard reporting, performing a QIP or audit accordingly. The post holder will be supported to develop research initiatives, appropriate to previous experience and complementary to those programmes that exist within the wider research framework of the directorate and Trust. Furthermore, the successful candidate will be encouraged to contribute to teaching activities according to their level of training.
