We are seeking enthusiastic candidates for an exciting vacancy within Greenwich which is split equally between Adult Secondary Care Mental Health and Adult Learning Disability services. This post is suitable for a newly qualified psychologist or for existing Band 7 candidates looking for diverse experiences in an alternative setting.
We welcome applicants who enjoy working closely alongside other disciplines and within a context where multiple psychological approaches are valued.
You will work with people with different backgrounds and will ideally be passionate about equal opportunities and client-centred care. Working with clients across the psychosis and learning disability teams, you will have an opportunity to develop experience and skills in psychological interventions with a varied client group.
The post holder will work collaboratively with teams in different clinical contexts including group work, assessments, systemic and family consultations and individual therapy. They will receive regular supervision and access to networks to support their professional development. If desired, there are also opportunities to gain experience in different teams including our local Family Therapy service.
The post will include opportunities to engage in a range of community psychology projects involving co-production with individuals accessing Oxleas services.
The postholder will be based primarily in Woolwich and Charlton. As a London borough, Greenwich offers a rich, culturally diverse and stimulating environment and the post will receive the outer London weighting.
Oxleas offers a wide range of NHS healthcare services to people in community and secure environment settings. Our services include community health care such as district nursing and speech and language therapy, care for people with learning disabilities and mental health care such as psychiatry, nursing and therapies. Our multidisciplinary teams look after people of all ages and we work in close partnership with other parts of the NHS, local councils and the voluntary sector and through our new provider collaboratives. We manage hospital sites including Queen Mary’s Hospital, Sidcup and Memorial Hospital, Woolwich, as well as the Bracton Centre, our medium secure unit for people with mental health needs. We are the largest NHS provider of prison health services providing healthcare to prisons within Devon, Dorset, Bristol, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire, Kent and South London. To provide a qualified Clinical Psychology service to clients of ICMP (psychosis and bipolar) and learning disability directorate across all sectors of care. This includes: providing specialist psychological assessment and therapy with individuals families and groups, consulting with families, team colleagues and non professional carers about psychological models and ideas, and working within the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures. There is also an expectation for the postholder to develop group and /or systemic and family work in these contexts.
