Summary


The purpose of this role is to provide an efficient and high standard of clerical service Maternity wards; to ensure that a welcoming and professional service is provided to patients and visitors; to ensure the smooth running of admin & clerical processes within Maternity wards.

Patient administration underpins the patient journey and supports clinical teams in delivering high quality patient care and can make a real difference to the patient experience. Effective and efficient patient administration supports management through ensuring a high standard of data quality and by making the best use of capacity and resources.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and well-presented individual to join our team of ward clerks with in Maternity. If you would like to make a positive contribution to a patient’s care experience and are a good communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, enthusiastic and adaptable, then we would like to hear from you.

The purpose of the role is to provide a professional, efficient and friendly service ensuring that all patients, visitors and clinicians are welcomed to the department in an appropriate manner. A key element of the role is the ability to use judgement and initiative to deal with the day to day patient queries/issues raised, liaising and communicating with the wider Maternity admin & clinical teams as needed.

You will need to have a flexible approach to work, be highly organised, enjoy working individually as well as part of a larger team and have good keyboarding skills. Knowledge of EPR is desirable but not essential as training will be given. With this role you will become part of the wider administrative team within Maternity with numerous opportunities for progression.

• First point of contact for patient, family members & visitors in person & via the telephone.
• Monitor who has has access to the ward to ensure that safeguarding policies & procedures are adhered to
• Taking calls from women regarding their pregnancies which require you be compassionate whilst ensuring the call is dealt with appropriately.
• Answering patient call buttons in the appropriate manner.
• Assisting clinical staff during emergencies on the ward
• Using the EPR system to book appointments, admit & transfer patients
• Use Badgernet system to maintain patient records
• Develop knowledge of patient pathways to ensure that correct procedures are adhered to whilst booking outpatient appointments & in-patient admissions
• Ensure that information on overseas patients is entered accurately onto EPR and communicated to the Overseas team, to ensure appropriate charges are processed
• Use ScanIt to move documents in patient's electronic notes
• Track patient notes
• Work closely with clinical staff to provide the best quality care for patients whilst they are under the care of the Maternity service
• Maintain stationary levels
• General admin duties
