Applications are invited for the above temporary part-time post working in the School of Psychology and Sports Sciences. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative project between the School and British Isles DBT Training to deliver a national, NHS England funded, distance-learning programme of PG Dip training in DBT. This post will provide outstanding opportunities to develop skills in teaching, supervising and delivering DBT alongside international experts in the treatment. This post would suit an experienced DBT therapist interested in using their knowledge and experience to develop the next generation, or a graduate of the PG Diploma in DBT keen to develop their academic and clinical skills. You will work closely alongside the Deputy Directors and Programme Director to deliver the programme with a focus on delivering teaching; monitoring student progress; assignment marking. Opportunities to maintain clinical work within a DBT programme will be encouraged.

Candidates must be an accredited DBT therapist with the Society of DBT in the UK and Ireland. Experience of teaching psychological therapy at an HEI level would be a distinct advantage. The programme is distance-learning and is delivered totally online at present and so remote working is possible for this role.

The School of Psychology and Sport Science conducts world-leading research in cognitive neuroscience, clinical interventions, psychological wellbeing, elite performance, physical activity, and health and applied human physiology. In the recent Research Excellence Framework Exercise, 86% of Psychology outputs were rated as either 3* or 4*. Bangor University is one of the only universities in Wales to hold Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework.

The University is in an area of outstanding natural beauty, situated on the North Wales coast between the mountains of Snowdonia and the sea, making it one of the most attractive university cities in the UK. Bangor University is proud of its Welsh heritage, yet it is also renowned for its approach to internationalisation.

Bangor University is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from populations who are underrepresented. The School of Psychology and Sports Science currently has the Athena SWAN Bronze award and benefits from a large and diverse academic staff employing individuals from across the world. We are committed to being a flexible and supportive work environment that allows everyone to flourish.

The successful candidate will be expected to commence as soon as possible.

The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable for this post.

This post is subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check.

Applications will also be considered to carry out this role on a part-time or job share basis.

This role will be located on campus at Bangor. Through our Dynamic Working framework, there will also be the option to spend some time working remotely (although remaining in the UK) to support work life balance, which will be discussed further with candidates at interview.

Applications will only be accepted via our online recruitment website, jobs.bangor.ac.uk. However, in cases of access issues due to disability, paper application forms are available by telephoning 01248 383865.

Closing date for applications: 31 August, 2025.

Informal enquiries can be made by contacting: Sarah Plum, Deputy Programme Director PG Dip in DBT; e-mail: s.plum@bangor.ac.uk Tel: 01248 388510.
