Job Title: Warehouse and Handyperson. Temporary - 3-month contract.
We are currently seeking for a dedicated person, who possesses the general DIY skills of a handy man to perform preventative maintenance and necessary repairs within our grounds and warehouse facility at Aberaman. Warehouse operation includes use of Forklift performing a variety of tasks related to the receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods in a warehouse environment. Forklift certification is required (preferably for a reach type fork truck, although conversion training may be offered to the right candidate). Tasks include picking, packing and palletizing orders (including manual unloading of containerized boxed items, stock control, and maintaining a tidy and safe workspace.
The role:
• Handle incoming and outgoing goods, including picking, packing, and dispatching items including managing stock and maintaining accurate records.
• Loading and unloading vehicles
• Serving customers and providing exceptional customer service
• Assist with moving of machinery, furniture and/or stores around the factory
• Participate in regular stock takes and cycle counts
• Monthly testing of Fire Alarm system.
• Undertake basic internal and external repairs and maintenance tasks to high quality standards, including basic plumbing, electrical fixtures, and carpentry including painting and decorating such as: -
o Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment
o Plumbing duties as required in toilets, wash stations and canteen.
o Flooring issues and painting floors
o Internal lighting, CCTV and signage maintenance
o General cleaning of storage rooms, offices and corridors.
• Coordinate with manager to engage contractors for more complex repairs.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
• Maintenance of the grounds: -
o Grass verge maintenance including mowing and strimming
o Clearing of weeds and debris around the perimeter of the building
o General cleaning in and around the site
o Pest control issues
o External lighting, CCTV and signage maintenance
o Ensure any security concerns are flagged and rectified
o Gritting and snow/ice removal in winter,
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Respond to urgent call outs out of hours
• Other reasonable tasks as agreed with the General Manager.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Experience of operating a Reach Forklift Truck or certification is desirable.
• Practical DIY Skills are essential and experience as a handyman or in a similar maintenance role or warehouse experience are advantageous.
• Relevant certifications or knowledge in electrical or plumbing work are preferred but not essential.
• Proactive approach with strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Positive attitude, ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Awareness of Health & Safety requirements essential, with any Safety, First Aid, Fire Marshall certifications being a plus.
• Good secondary education with strong literacy and numeracy skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Physically fit and capable of manual handling.
• Helpful, flexible and friendly with a professional manner.
• Quick to learn new systems and procedures
Hours - Monday-Friday 8:30-12:30 and 13:00 to16:30
