Machine Operator - Steel Fabrication Workshop
Location: Forfar
Shift: 8am-5pm
Salary: £14.41-15.05
We are currently recruiting for a Machine Operator to join a busy steel fabrication workshop. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with hands-on machine operating experience - especially those who have worked with plasma cutters, tube lasers, press brakes, or bending machines.
What We're Looking For:
We're after someone who has set up and operated machinery in a steel fabrication environment. Experience with plasma, tube laser, press brake, and bending equipment is ideal.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret and follow work orders and technical drawings
- Set up and operate machines per task requirements
- Monitor machines during operation, making necessary adjustments
- Inspect and measure finished products to meet specifications
- Perform routine maintenance and report any faults or defects
- Maintain a clean, safe working environment
- Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE
- Training provided for testing and adjusting machine speeds using gauges and tools
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Prior experience operating fabrication machinery in a workshop setting
- Strong understanding of work order instructions and technical drawings
- A proactive attitude toward maintenance, safety, and quality
