Band 6 Perinatal Mental Health midwife - 37.5 hours/week

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated band 6 NMC registered midwife to support the existing Perinatal Mental Heath team to improve the care, experience, and outcomes for those with mental health complexities.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced midwife who is passionate about supporting people experiencing or at significant risk of mental health concerns during pregnancy and the postnatal period to optimise their mental health and promote the best outcomes for them and their unborn/newborn babies.

You will work across acute and community settings and within a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency team, providing direct clinical care as well as advice and support to Trust staff. You will be expected to work within the team and independently, which will involve lone working including home visits to parents and families; being a car driver with full driving license is required for this.

The successful candidate should be knowledgeable, compassionate, and well organised, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You should demonstrate adaptability and a flexible approach to work.

The Perinatal Mental Health Midwife will support the Lead Midwife for Perinatal Mental Health to assess, plan, and deliver effective and responsive programmes of midwifery care for those experiencing mental health issues throughout the childbirth continuum. You will be involved of plans of care which are additional and opportunistic beyond the routine services offered by community/hospital-based midwives. You should be passionate about supporting service users with trauma and/or mental health complexities as well as acting as a resource for staff.

You will be responsible for ensuring a high standard of evidence-based, personalised care that promotes engagement and wellbeing for pregnant people and their families with mental health concerns. Working within the Perinatal Mental Health maternity team and working closely and collaboratively other professionals, you will ensure the delivery of appropriate care, support, and guidance to optimise mental and physical health and promote the best outcomes for parents and their unborn/newborn babies.
