Summary


A senior nursing role within The Hillingdon Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to join an experienced, well respected, enthusiastic and forward thinking team. This post is a senior nursing role within the trust providing specialist advice, education and support for patients, carers and health care professionals.

Candidates must have first level nursing registration and a completed or willing to undertake a first level degree appropriate to the speciality, as well as previous nursing experience within palliative care involving both clinical and managerial responsibilities.

Full and part time candidates will be considered.



The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is a senior nursing role within the Trust demonstrating expert knowledge and practice within the field of specialist palliative care. The post holder will provide specialist advice, education and support to healthcare professionals, patients and their carers’. As a senior nurse the CNS would participate and contribute to service developments and initiatives, particularly research and audit.

It is envisaged that the CNS will co-ordinate care of patients between departments within Hillingdon Hospital, demonstrating the CARES philosophy. This will include liaison with Primary Care Services, assessing for and providing specialist nursing advice, education and support. The CNS will be the key worker for patients during their admission.

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute Hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics and maternity services. The Trust’s services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, delivered at a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit and outpatient clinics.
