The South West London Procurement Partnership (SWLPP) was established on 1st April 2021 as a single procurement service for Croydon Health Services NHS Trust, Epsom & St Helier NHS Trust, Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. It also supports the wider South West London Integrated Care System and is hosted by St George’s.
The partnership aims to improve outcomes by delivering at-scale benefits for patients, staff and the wider health economy. It forms a key part of building the shared infrastructure needed to drive system-wide transformation in care and improve long-term financial sustainability.
This is an exciting opportunity to join SWLPP and help realise our vision.
We are recruiting a Deputy Data & Business Intelligence Manager to lead the Data & BI team (Data Analysts and Catalogue Managers), overseeing day-to-day delivery and involvement in a range of bespoke projects. You’ll apply your knowledge of core business processes and technical expertise to act as a key source for all BI needs—driving end-to-end data lifecycle management and technical delivery.
• Lead and support analytical developmentusing tools like SQL Server, Tableau, SSIS, and Excel to extract, transform, query and present data.
• Help stakeholders articulate their information needsand advise on how data can support decision-making and improve business processes.
• Develop and maintain complex data extraction and reporting solutionsaligned with business requirements.
• Manage and provide BI supportacross local, national, and external stakeholders, ensuring insights are actionable and impactful.
• Provide authoritative guidance on analytical solutionsand oversee their implementation to drive service improvements.
• Line manage the Data Analysts and Catalogue Managers, including leading on recruitment, training, professional development, and workforce planning.
• Deputise for the Data & BI Manager and/or Head of Data, BI & Systems, providing leadership and continuity when required.
• Promote innovation by proactively identifying and implementing improved technical solutionsto meet evolving business needs.
St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the country's principal teaching hospitals and our main site is shared with St George's, University of London, which trains medical students and carries out advanced medical research. We have over 9,000 dedicated staff serving a population of 1.3 million across south-west London.
We deliver a large number of services, such as cardiothoracic medicine and surgery, neurosciences and renal transplantation. We also cover significant populations from Surrey and Sussex, totalling around 3.5 million people. As well as acute hospital services, we provide a wide variety of specialist care and a range of community services to patients.
• To deputise for and provide managerial support to the Data & Business Intelligence Manager and/or Head of Data, BI & Systems when required to.
• Helping customers to articulate their information requirements and advising on how data can be used to support business processes and decision making.
• Leading and supporting analytical development through the use of appropriate tools (e.g. SQL Server, Tableau, SSIS, and Excel) to extract, transform, query and present data.
• Managing and supporting BI support for various departments including local and national teams and external stakeholders.
• Providing authoritative information, guidance and advice on analytical solutions and implementation.
• Ensuring compliance with policies, standards, and strategy.
• Undertaking data analysis, data modelling and data transformation based upon identified business needs.
• Developing and maintaining complex data extraction and reporting solutions.
• Being proactive in pursuing new and improved technical solutions.
• Liaising closely with other Informatics teams.
• Line management of the Data analysts and Catalogue Managers teams including leading on areas relating to recruitment, training, professional development and forward planning.
• To delegate appropriate duties to members of the team and follow up on outcomes.
• To participate in the Trust’s appraisal process both as an appraisee and appraiser.
• To attend relevant meetings on behalf of/with Data & Business Intelligence Manager and liaise effectively both verbally and in writing with the relevant stakeholders.
• Ensure that professional behaviour of all staff is in line with expected standards of SGUH and individual professional codes of conduct and takes appropriate action with the relevant HR officers utilising the
relevant policies and procedures.
• Maintains discipline within the workplace, acting within and in accordance with the appropriate Trust and Local Authority policies and procedures. Where necessary, manages issues of performance in relation to capability, ill health or grievance procedures in conjunction with the Data & BI Manager and HR.
• Supports the coordination of annual leave and training in line with NHS and Local Authority procedures and ensures that adequate staffing is maintained for the continued effective functioning of the Data & BI team.
• Maintain KPIs within the Data & BI team to measure performance and be able to improve to set standards.
• To be responsible and support the provision of relevant training for the team, department and relevant stakeholders as requested.
• Maintain key relationships with all relevant stakeholders/services/individuals to support optimum efficiency of service delivery.
