About You:
The successful candidate will have:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and great rapport-building ability.
Be creative and brave, finding ways to engage learners and improve their maths confidence.

Nurture and empower learners by supporting them to overcome barriers.

Be highly organised, with demonstrated planning and time-management skills (supported by good IT skills).

PGCE/Certificate in Education, or L5 Diploma in Education and Training.

Qualified to a minimum of Level 3 in English, and a minimum of Level 2 in maths.

Experience of teaching English up to Level 2 and/or GCSE.

Effective skills in managing conflict and maintaining high standards of classroom behaviour.

About the Role:
We deliver educational programmes across England and as we expand our provision, we are recruiting for an English Tutor based around the Greater Manchester area. The role is offered on a part-time basis to work 24 hours per week.

As an English Tutor you will work with a nationwide team of subject specialists to effectively design, plan and deliver engaging programmes of learning that support learners to achieve up to and including Level 2 English Functional Skills and GCSE.

You will support learners in overcoming barriers to English, building their confidence, and supporting them in achieving English qualifications to facilitate progression and improve life chances, whilst also developing employability and social skills.

The right candidates for these roles will be able to:

Effectively meet the needs of individual learners and support their success on their programme of learning.

Assist in the organisation of internal assessments and external examinations.

Contribute to course review processes, curriculum development and quality assurance in keeping with the organisation’s policies and procedures.

Safeguarding responsibilities: This role will involve daily contact with learners, and you will be engaging in regulated activity relevant to children. All staff have a responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people, and/or vulnerable adults for whom you are responsible and with whom you come into contact. The Charity’s Safeguarding Policy is available from Central YMCA website.

Any offer of employment will be subject to successfully completing pre-employment checks, including an enhanced DBS disclosure, teacher prohibition check, the receipt of satisfactory references, overseas check (if applicable), relevant original ID documentation and examination certificates.

Regulated activity: This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the Charity is therefore permitted to ask shortlisted applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) to assess their suitability to work with children.
