Job Description

Kitchen Assistant

JOB PURPOSE
Responsible for preparing, presentation and service of all food and beverages to the standard required of the Company. To undertake duties and any of the Catering Units within the Company, to provide and maintain well organised and smooth running kitchen
RELATIONSHIPS
1. To be accountable to the Manager/ Deputy Manager In his/her absence to Managing Director and Directors
CONTRACTS
Will work closely with Manager, Managing Director and Directors of the company.
SPECIAL/PHYSICAL CONDITIONS
Based at a residential home the hours of work will be appropriate to the specific location.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. To prepare and present and serve all dishes to the highest standard required by the Manager
2. To liase with Manager/Service Users for daily requirements
3. To provide and maintain an organised Kitchen
4. To ensure the provision of culturally acceptable meals when required.
5. To adhere to Equal Opportunity Policy
6. To ensure fuel economy.
7. To adhere to portion and wastage control as directed by the Manager

8. To ensure relevant Hygiene and Health and Safety Regulations are observed at all times.
9. To attend meetings as requested by Home Manager
10. To attend relevant training courses
11. To assist any changes to Improve standards.
12. To give a through clean to floor, pantry, shelves, fridges, cooker and all other kitchen appliances.
13. Kitchen area and Kitchen Floor to be left clean and tidy after use.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Job Title: Kitchen Assistant

Skills and Abilities
Ability to prepare, cook and present food to the highest Standard
Ability to provide dietary and culturally acceptable food
Written communications skills of a standard to order and control stock
An Understanding of the current Health & Safety and Food Hygiene Legislation
Ability to communicate in face-to-face or telephone
Training and Development
Commitment to attend relevant training courses
Education/Qualification
Food and Hygiene Certificate
Other
An understanding of Equal Opportunities
