JOB OVERVIEW
We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a driven and technically skilled Structural Project Engineer to join our growing team and help lead the successful delivery of exciting structural projects. This is a leadership-focused role where you will manage design outputs, mentor team members, and maintain strong client relationships — all while keeping delivery on budget and to the highest technical standard.
As the Structural Project Engineer you will work closely with our Principal Engineers and Managing Director, playing a key role in projects valued between £5m and £25m.
For engineers aiming to secure IStructE Chartership, we provide structured, in-house training and mentorship led by our MD and Chartered Engineers.
This is an opportunity for a Structural Project Engineer to step into a role with real impact — delivering quality, driving team performance, and helping shape the future of a growing consultancy.
About Us
At Barden Chapman, we’re not just building structures — we’re building a consultancy that brings together technical excellence, creativity, and a deeply people-centred culture. We are a young, fast-growing practice with a proven track record of delivering high-value projects across the residential, commercial, leisure, and industrial sectors throughout the UK.
What sets us apart is our focus on doing things right: we put client satisfaction first, take ownership of our work, and continually push for improvement. You won’t find politics or red tape here — just a collaborative, ambitious team working hard to deliver quality and make a difference.
If you’re ready to lead, deliver, and grow within a high-performing structural consultancy, we’d love to hear from you.
This is more than just another engineering job — it’s your chance to take on a leadership role in a supportive, technically excellent, and forward-thinking team. You’ll work closely with the Managing Director and senior leadership on complex, meaningful projects that challenge and inspire.
We offer real autonomy, strong team spirit, and an environment that supports you to become the best version of your professional self — technically, commercially, and as a leader.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties and key responsibilities as a Structural Project Engineer will include:
• Lead the structural design and delivery of a wide range of projects
• Act as the technical lead across multidisciplinary teams, liaising with designers and external consultants
• Carry out structural analysis and design to Eurocodes and British Standards using materials such as steel, concrete, timber and masonry
• Oversee foundation and geotechnical design, supported by appropriate software and collaboration
• Use tools including Axis VM, Tekla Tedds, and IDEA StatiCa to support detailed engineering outputs
• Produce and review calculations, sketches, technical reports, scopes of work, and specifications
• Manage CAD/Revit coordination and ensure design clarity across documentation
• Maintain client relationships and ensure their objectives are met with responsiveness and professionalism
• Provide technical support and mentoring to less experienced engineers and technicians
• Ensure all work meets compliance, quality assurance, and delivery targets
• Monitor commercial performance, including fee budgets and time management
What We’re Looking For
• MEng (Hons) in Structural Engineering from a recognised UK or international university
• Post-qualification experience in a consultancy environment
• Chartered with IStructE or planning to sit the exam in the current calendar year
• Proven ability to manage and deliver projects from concept to construction
• Effective communicator, confident in leading meetings and coordinating with external teams
• A collaborative leader with a proactive mindset and a passion for delivering technical excellence
• Commercially aware and capable of managing budgets and internal resources efficiently
What We Offer
• Competitive base salary (based on experience and responsibility)
• Some flexibility for hybrid working (up to 20% remote)
• Full support for IStructE Chartership via our structured internal development programme
• Fast-tracked career development towards Senior and Principal Engineer roles
• Access to exciting, high-value UK projects
• Professional membership fees covered
• A dynamic, team-driven culture that values ownership, trust, and collaboration
