Looking for a hands-on role where no two days are the same? Join our team and help keep our care homes safe, secure, and running smoothly for those who need it most.
About the Team
You’ll be part of a supportive and proactive Facilities team that plays a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of our residential services. We work collaboratively to ensure our buildings are functional, welcoming, and compliant with health and safety standards.
You’ll also liaise closely with care home staff and external contractors, helping to coordinate repairs and respond to maintenance needs efficiently. Whether it’s fixing a broken lock, painting a room, or testing emergency lighting, your contribution will be valued and visible.
About the Role
Are you a hands-on problem solver with a passion for keeping things running smoothly? We’re looking for a dedicated Caretaker & Maintenance Operative to join our Facilities team on a 6-month fixed-term contract. In this vital role, you’ll help ensure our residential care homes are safe, secure, and well-maintained for residents, staff, and visitors.
Working across three key sites—Charlton House Nursing Home (Keynsham), Cleeve Court Residential Home (Twerton, Bath), and Combe Lea (Midsomer Norton)—you’ll carry out a wide range of routine maintenance tasks. From basic plumbing and decorating to fire safety checks and garden upkeep, your work will directly contribute to the comfort and safety of our care environments.
A Council works vehicle will be provided, so a clean and valid driving licence is essential.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
-Experienced in general building maintenance, with knowledge of basic plumbing, decorating, and minor repairs.
-Organised and reliable, with the ability to work independently and manage your time effectively across multiple sites.
-Health and safety aware, with a good understanding of regulations and procedures, including COSHH.
-A great communicator, able to interact professionally with a range of stakeholders and escalate issues when needed.
-Flexible and hands-on, ready to tackle a variety of tasks: from fire alarm testing to garden maintenance.
You’ll also need:
-A valid, clean driving licence.
-Good record-keeping skills to document checks and maintenance work.
-A proactive attitude and a commitment to creating safe, comfortable environments for others.
