Summary
Job Title: Warehouse Operative with Forklift License
Location: Westbury
Reports To: Warehouse Supervisor / Logistics Manager
Job Type: Temporary
Salary: £17.00ph
Shift Pattern: 8am - 5pm
Job Purpose:
To ensure the efficient, safe, and accurate handling of goods within the warehouse, including the operation of forklifts for loading, unloading, and storage. You will play a key role in maintaining inventory accuracy, meeting dispatch targets, and contributing to a clean and safe warehouse environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate forklift trucks safely and efficiently (e.g., counterbalance, reach truck).
Load and unload goods from vehicles and place them in the correct storage locations.
Pick, pack, and prepare customer orders accurately and on time.
Conduct stock checks and assist in inventory control.
Follow all health and safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.
Ensure goods are stored in compliance with company procedures (e.g., FIFO, expiry dates).
Report any damages, shortages, or discrepancies to the supervisor.
Use warehouse management systems (WMS) or scanners to record movements.
Assist with other warehouse duties as required.
Essential Requirements:
Valid forklift license (e.g., RTITB, ITSSAR).
Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics environment.
Ability to lift and move heavy items (manual handling).
Good level of physical fitness and stamina.
Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Desirable Skills:
Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS).
Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a warehouse setting.
Additional forklift certifications (e.g., reach truck, VNA, PPT).
First Aid or Manual Handling Training.
Working Conditions:
Warehouse environment (may be cold/hot depending on seasons).
Use of PPE (safety boots, hi-vis, gloves, etc.).
May require standing or moving for extended periods.
