The Best Connection are recruiting for a Street Cleansing Operative to work for one of our clients based in Preston.

The worker is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of public spaces like streets, sidewalks, and parks. Their duties include removing litter, debris, leaves, and other waste, as well as addressing issues like graffiti, fly-tipping, and dog fouling. They may use both manual tools like brooms and shovels, and mechanical equipment like street sweepers.

Key Responsibilities: Litter Collection: Sweeping and picking up litter, debris, and waste from streets, sidewalks, and public areas. Waste Disposal: Emptying public litter bins and transferring waste into designated containers. Graffiti Removal: Removing graffiti from walls, street furniture, and other surfaces. Drainage Maintenance: Clearing gutters, drains, and gullies to prevent blockages and flooding. Equipment Maintenance: Maintaining and cleaning manual and mechanical cleaning equipment. Reporting Issues: Reporting any hazards, such as fly-tipping, broken glass, or damaged street furniture, to the relevant authorities. Working in Adverse Weather: Operating in various weather conditions, including rain, snow, and extreme temperatures. Manual Labour: Involved in physical tasks such as sweeping, lifting, and carrying. Teamwork: Often working as part of a team to complete cleaning tasks efficiently. Skills and Qualifications: Ability to Work Outdoors: They need to be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions. Manual Dexterity: Experience with hand tools and equipment is often required. Attention to Detail: Street cleaners need to be thorough and pay attention to detail to ensure all areas are cleaned properly. Communication Skills: Good communication skills are helpful for reporting issues and interacting with the public. Driving License: A valid driving license may be required but no essential. Monday to Thursday 7.30-15.30 Friday 7.30-15.00

Pay £12.64ph

Weekly Pay every Friday

Start date 4th August 2025

- Hourly rate as above (not age dependent)
- 28 days Paid Annual Leave pro-rata for PAYE (inclusive of statutory holiday)

- Possible permanent position following a successful trial period
