About the Role

We’re currently recruiting for a Chef Manager to lead the catering team at a prestigious independent day school located in Central London.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled and passionate chef with strong leadership capabilities and a background in delivering outstanding catering services within education or similar environments.

You’ll be responsible for managing a high-performing team and ensuring the delivery of fresh, nutritious, and exciting meals for pupils, staff, and guests. The role also includes overseeing hospitality and event catering, with a focus on plant-based innovation, allergy awareness, and inclusive menu development.

Job Description

  • Lead and manage the daily operations of the school kitchen and catering team

  • Plan, prepare, and oversee the delivery of nutritious, seasonal menus that meet dietary and allergen requirements

  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations

  • Manage inventory, ordering, and cost control to meet budget targets

  • Support and develop kitchen staff through training, coaching, and performance management

  • Coordinate hospitality for school events and functions, maintaining high standards of presentation and service

  • Foster an inclusive and positive team environment that promotes wellbeing and professional growth



Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a Chef Manager or similar leadership role

  • A passion for seasonal, sustainable cooking and food innovation

  • Strong understanding of plant-based and allergen-aware catering

  • Excellent people management and communication skills

  • High standards for food presentation, safety, and compliance
