Water Meadow View is a new mental health inpatient unit for adults who have learning disabilities, which is due to open in late 2025 on our site in Whittingham, Preston. As we prepare to open this unit, we have an exciting opportunity for a Medical Secretary to join us and support the

Multi-Disciplinary Team to deliver outstanding person centred care.
One of the Trust's aims is to deliver the best possible care to our patients, and this new inpatient unit will do just that. Water Meadow View will offer clinical excellence, support, and safety, with patient-centred care at its heart.

The post holder will provide a comprehensive secretarial, administration and information service to specified Consultant’s and their team. To facilitate the organisation of the workload of the Consultant and their team and coordinate their activities with other medical secretaries to ensure an efficient and confidential service is provided.

The post holder will deliver on key responsibilities
• When directed, on behalf of the manager to communicate and correspond with senior/network managers within the network on difficult, sensitive, complex and sometimes contentious issues. This will require a level of negotiating, empathy and reassurance skills to foster cooperation.
• The post holder will screen emails, fax and correspondence addressed to the manager/managers and using judgement to establish the validity and priority of the contact, take action where appropriate, and flag to the manager/managers those that require urgent attention.
• Planning and organising a broad range of complex network wide activities and programmes including regular meetings and other events. This will require the formulation and adjustment of schedules and the ability to respond to competing and occasionally conflicting demands and priorities.

Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care across this area. Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care.

The Trust also provides a range of physical health and well-being services in the community alongside a range of partners in the Lancashire, Cumbria and Sefton area.
