What is a Cover Supervisor?

A Cover Supervisor steps into the classroom when teachers are absent, delivering pre-set work and ensuring students remain focused and on task. There’s no planning, marking, or assessment involved, making it the perfect role for anyone with classroom experience, or for those looking to take the next step toward a teaching career.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Supervising classes during teacher absences

  
  

• Ensuring students stay on task and complete the work set

  
  

• Managing classroom behaviour effectively and confidently

  
  

• Supporting pupils in their learning where needed

  
  

• Reporting back on student engagement and any issues to relevant staff

  
  

• Working across different departments and year groups (Key Stage 3 & 4)

  
  What we’re looking for:

  • A minimum of 6 months experience in a school or similar setting

    
    

  • CACHE Level 2/3 (preferred, but not essential)

    
    

  • Strong classroom and behaviour management

    
    

  • Confidence working with students aged 11–16+

    
    

  • A flexible, proactive attitude and a willingness to work across different schools and year groups
