About the Opportunity

We're currently recruiting a passionate and knowledgeable Teacher of Engineering to join a specialist secondary school in Leeds for a maternity cover position, beginning September 2025. This full-time role has the potential to become permanent for the right candidate. You'll be teaching Engineering across Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5, supporting students as they gain both theoretical understanding and practical skills.

What We're Looking For
  • A qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent)
  • Subject specialism in Engineering, Design Technology, Product Design or similar
  • Prior experience teaching KS4 and/or KS5 Engineering
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)

Desirable Skills and Qualities
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software
  • Confident in delivering practical and creative lessons
  • Ability to use digital tools to enhance learning
  • Industry experience or exposure is an advantage
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Proven ability to inspire and engage students
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and inclusive learning space

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver high-quality, practical lessons in Engineering at KS4 & KS5
  • Prepare learners for exams, qualifications, and post-16 transitions
  • Champion STEM learning and employer engagement across the school
  • Support project-based coursework and student-led initiatives
  • Maintain strong links with parents, staff, and industry partners
  • Promote a safe working environment in workshops and classrooms
  • Play an active role in school development and CPD opportunities
  • Contribute to curriculum development and co-curricular STEM activities
  • Uphold high standards in safeguarding, behaviour, and student progress
  • Instil resilience, ambition, and curiosity in learners
