Do you have experience and skills in business development or establishing new business relationships? Can you develop bespoke packages to create new partnerships?

About us

The five museums of the Science Museum Group (SMG) are a key national resource. With our extensive collection in the fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine, we are uniquely placed to draw people of all ages to engage with science in an inspirational and informal way. Our collections contain the objects that have made science such a powerful element in modern culture - particularly relevant to the current landscape as the world continues to focus on topical issues from healthcare to sustainability. As the UK's leading centre of science engagement and most visited museum group by school children, we have a unique ability to open people's minds to the creativity and wonder of science.

Corporate partnerships are key to delivering our strategic goals. The Group's innovative projects enable us to create exciting partnerships against the backdrop of business-relevant subjects and with national reach. Through a diverse programme of new galleries, exhibitions and world class learning programmes, the Science Museum Group is transforming itself while forging long lasting, sector-leading corporate partnerships.

About the role

To support this work, we are looking for a New Business Manager (internally known as Corporate Relationship Manager) to identify national partnerships and opportunities for income generation. You will research suitable businesses; create tailored packages; and pitch and propose an attractive membership partnership with SMG, aiming to secure income to support the Group's future aspirations within STEM.

This is a varied and exciting opportunity and every day will be different in this relationships-focussed role. At any point, you could be spending time building relationships, networking and presenting on a variety of concepts, highlighting what our Group has to offer.

This position offers the flexibility to have a balance of working from home, as well as regular office presence.

Download the Vacancy Information Pack file under 'Attachments' on this vacancy listing on the Science Museum Group website for more details about the role and the application process.

About you

Whether you're ready to take the next step in your career or eager to broaden your relationship-building expertise, we welcome your experience and enthusiasm for fostering partnerships within the corporate and sales sectors. We're less concerned about how you've gained your experience and more focused on your ability to create new connections and align goals effectively.

You thrive in collaborative, team-focused environments and are motivated by achieving targets. Confident and persuasive in your presentations, you excel at networking and nurturing strong, lasting relationships.

Don't feel you meet all the criteria? We welcome you to apply even if your experience doesn't match directly. With your transferable skills, you could be the right candidate for this, or other opportunities that we have.

What we offer

Joining us as an employee, you will have the opportunity to develop your career in a world-class museum group. We understand that work/life balance and wellbeing is crucial to our colleagues, so we offer the perks listed below, as well as support for things that happen in life such as parental and adoption leave, sickness, and career breaks.

  • Support with personal and professional development
  • 25 days annual leave in addition to bank holidays
  • Employee assistance programme
  • Enhanced contributory pension
  • Unmind App and other wellbeing support
  • Interest-free loans
  • Days Out discounts
  • Health & Dental Insurance

Open for All is one of the Science Museum Group's five core values and sets out our important aspiration to be a place for everyone. We are working hard to understand our organisation better and to develop a culture that recognises and values different backgrounds, mindsets, skills, experience, knowledge, and expertise. By having greater diversity, we believe that we will be a stronger and better organisation, capable to continue to Inspire Futures.
