Summary
There are two posts available for either a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or Senior CBT and/or EMDR Therapist to join the Lancashire and South Cumbria Traumatic Stress Service (LSCTSS).
The service is based in Chorley and is commissioned to support LSCFT staff whose trauma experiences are significantly impacting their mental health and well-being. The service provides comprehensive trauma-focused assessments as well as individually tailored psychological formulations and clear treatment plans for LSCFT colleagues requiring this support. The service also delivers preparatory and pharmacological interventions. The service has also developed an organisational framework to support staff following a critical incident (Workplace Trauma Support). In addition to the above the service also provides vital support across the organisation with training, consultation and supervision to colleagues in developing their knowledge, skills and confidence in working with trauma. The service also has strong links with local Doctorate Clinical Psychology Training courses, providing teaching and specialist placements for trainees.
LSCTSS provides opportunities for patients to engage with preparatory and resource development sessions while on the waiting list and they can also be seen by our pharmacist to review their medication. The service has developed a six-module treatment programme in relation to the treatment of complex trauma that emphasises the importance of ensuring that the patient is stable, safe and secure before directly addressing the trauma memory.
The expectation is that the post holder will provide specialist psychological assessment and therapy for LSCFT staff who have experienced trauma. The post-holder will also be expected to attend team meetings and case discussion forums. The skilled provision of evidence based psychological interventions for a range of presentations, which will include specialised trauma focused interventions, will be an essential aspect of the post.
The service provides robust clinical and peer supervision as well as staff well-being initiatives. The post holder will also have the opportunity to contribute to consultation, training, resource development and research.
PLEASE NOTE:
You must have worked or are working in a clinically aligned service that delivers evidence-based trauma-focused interventions such as Trauma-Focused CBT and EMDR.
