As part of our commitment to outstanding Education driver Training, we are looking to recruit Driving Instructors (Educators) to our exceptional and dynamic Driver Training Team.
4 x Secondment Positions
Driver Education & Training is delivered across all five geographical areas of NWAS which the post holder will be expected to cover as required.
• Cumbria
• Lancashire
• Merseyside
• Cheshire
• Greater Manchester
Training and development will be provided to successful candidates who don’t already hold a suitable Driving Instructor Qualification.
These posts will be substantive roles. However, in line with current practice, successful candidates will initially be appointed on an 18 month Annex 21 secondment. This approach serves two key purposes:
1. It provides the candidate with a realistic opportunity to determine whether the role is right for them, without the pressure of making a permanent commitment at the outset.
2. It offers assurance that, should they decide the role isn’t for them, they retain a substantive position back in Operations.
This arrangement will also allow time to assess suitability for the role and ensure individuals successfully complete the intensive development programme required to become qualified Driving Instructors.
The unique role will require the successful applicants to deliver Driver Education and training including High Speed Driving Regulations check tests, Emergency response Driving, Rapid Response Vehicle and Patient Transport Service Driver Training (when Approved Driving Instructor Qualified) across all respective areas. It is expected that for effective delivery the role will include some work activity outside normal working hours. The role will also include supporting the delivery of all types of Driver Training and assessment within the education and training field, from new staff inductions to external training.
Applications are invited from candidates that meet either of the following criteria:
• Existing response drivers with a minimum of 2 years current practice and an excellent driving history.
All applicants must hold a valid and current UK driving licence, including C1, for a minimum of 3 years; a maximum of 3 penalty points is permitted. It is essential that candidates possess a minimum of Level 2 Mathematics and English qualifications.
Individuals must also be willing to take a flexible approach to their work patterns to meet training demands. During the development to qualify, there is a potential that you will attend courses which may require travel or overnight stays on occasion.
North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.
Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.
We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.
Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.
We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
