Summary
A forward-thinking precision engineering company is looking to recruit an experienced 5 Axis CNC Milling Turning Programmer to support its growing operations. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled CNC professional to work in a dynamic, high-tech manufacturing environment where quality and innovation are key.
You’ll be responsible for programming and optimising CNC machinery, producing high-precision components used in specialised equipment and systems. This role offers the chance to contribute to continuous improvement projects and influence machining strategy from the ground up.
To be considered for the role, you’ll require the following essentials:
• Proven experience programming 5 Axis CNC Milling Turning machines
• Strong understanding of tool paths, feeds, speeds, and cutting strategies
• Ability to work with tight tolerances and produce complex components
• Experience working with a variety of metals and materials
• Knowledge of Fanuc and/or Heidenhain controls essential
• Skilled in reading and interpreting technical and engineering drawings
• Background in a precision or high-spec engineering environment (e.g., aerospace, automotive, oil & gas, pump systems)
• A proactive, problem-solving mindset with a strong attention to detail
• Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments
Within this position, you’ll also be:
• Create and optimise CNC programs using CAD/CAM software (such as Alpha Cam, Kreo, Fanuc, Heidenhain)
• Set and operate 5 Axis mill-turn machines, lathes, and mills
• Ensure all programs adhere to design tolerances, material properties, and machining best practices
• Test and troubleshoot programs, identifying process improvements and efficiency gains
• Work closely with production, engineering and quality teams to deliver best-in-class manufacturing performance
• Interpret technical drawings, models, and GD&T specifications
• Carry out first-off inspections and ensure quality compliance through the use of micrometers, calipers, and CMMs
• Suggest design and process improvements to support lean manufacturing principles
