Summary
To work as a key person and as part of a dynamic pre-school team under the direction of the manager. To provide safe, high-quality education and care for young children that meets the individual needs of children attending the setting.
The role will include amongst others, the following duties:
- Carrying out observations to establish children’s individual development in addition to their general health and wellbeing needs. Using the nursery management information system, maintain a consistent standard of observation and assessment records, including the 2-year-old progress check.
- Helping set up for the daily programme and tidy away at the end of each session.
- Acting as a key person to a small group of children, liaising closely and building an effective relationship with parents/carers, and ensuring each child’s needs are recognised and met.
- Working in partnership with parents/carers and family members. Offer support and guidance, and ensure parents/carers are regularly involved in discussion about their child’s progress.
- Teaching the children, offering an appropriate level of support alongside stimulating play experiences.
- Ensuring that children are kept safe and that you understand when to follow child protection procedures.
- Support at mealtimes within the setting.
