What skills and experience we're looking for
Keen to make a real impact by leading the systems and processes that support every student’s success?
At UTC Portsmouth, a STEM specialist college, we know that behind every exam paper is a student with a goal - and we’re looking for someone who can help ensure their learning journey is clear and fully supported.
As the Senior Administration Officer for Exams and Data, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and smooth operation of all assessment and data-related processes. From managing exam logistics and securing confidential materials to overseeing invigilation teams and liaising with awarding bodies - your work will have a direct impact on students’ outcomes and their confidence in the process.
As well as managing examinations, you will also take the lead on the college’s data systems - particularly iSAMS - supporting data collection, analysis, and reporting to help drive student achievement and inform strategic decision-making. This varied, fast-paced role requires attention to detail and a calm, organised approach, as the information you manage shapes everything from lesson planning to long-term college strategy.
You’ll be working with colleagues across the college, from teaching staff to SLT, to ensure that deadlines are met, compliance is maintained, and everyone is informed and supported.
We’re looking for someone who’s confident with systems, calm under pressure, and motivated by the idea of making complex processes feel effortless to those around them. You'll be someone with strong IT and data management skills, confidence working with MIS systems (such as iSAMS), and a meticulous eye for detail. You’ll be calm under pressure, able to meet deadlines, and capable of building effective working relationships with staff, students, and external partners alike. Flexibility is key - from managing exam season logistics to supporting data analysis and reporting cycles throughout the year.
The position is 37.5 hours a week, term time only plus 5 additional days, working 8.00am - 4.45pm Monday to Thursday, 8.00am - 2.45pm Fridays.
This is a role with real autonomy - but with the support of a collaborative and forward-thinking team. You will have access to the tools, training and technology you need to succeed, as well as the backing of a leadership team that values precision and proactive problem-solving.
What the school offers its staff
UTC Portsmouth isn’t a typical school - we are a specialised STEM college, the only one of its kind in the local area. Our students are highly motivated, and they choose to be part of a college with a strong sense of purpose and passion for STEM.
