Summary


We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for an experienced senior nurse with Gastroenterology expertise to provide professional and clinical nursing leadership, as well as operational management, across our gastroenterology services. This includes leadership of the endoscopy units and GI physiology department.

The areas covered by this role include:
• G3 (Endoscopy Unit) at Royal Oldham Hospital
• Endoscopy Unit at Fairfield Hospital
• Endoscopy Unit at Rochdale Infirmary
• GI Physiology Unit at Rochdale Infirmary
• IBD Team based at Fairfield Hospital
• ERCP Specialist Nurse at Royal Oldham Hospital
• Bowel Cancer Screening Team
• Liver Specialist Nursing Team

This position offers an engaging and challenging development opportunity for someone aspiring to progress into a Band 8a leadership role, or for current Band 8a nurses seeking to gain experience in a new specialty.

The post holder will be supported by a dedicated leadership team comprising the Assistant Director of Nursing, Directorate Manager, Clinical Director, as well as peer support from other lead nurses within the Surgery Division and the Divisional Director of Nursing for Surgery.

This role is ideal for someone with a positive attitude, a passion for improving patient and staff services, and the ability to adapt to the challenges of a dynamic environment.



Are you an experienced Band 8a Lead Nurse ready to lead positive change?

We’re seeking a dynamic leader to oversee governance, staffing, and quality improvement within our inpatient trauma and vascular services.

Key requirements:
• Proven experience in governance, incident reporting, risk mitigation, and leading investigations.
• Strong understanding of safe staffing and resource management.
• Knowledge of HR processes, including sickness absence and performance management.
• Familiarity with infection control standards and compliance.
• Evidence of participating in quality improvement projects that enhance patient and staff experience.
• Support for Nursing Accreditation success, aligning with CQC standards.
• Ability to lead operationally, support ward teams, and provide assurance to senior management.
• A proactive, supportive approach that fosters a positive team culture and continuous improvement.
