The paediatric research nursing team work across all specialities within The Children's Hospital and out in the community.

You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of studies with regular contact with patients and healthy volunteers that will make a real difference to future patient care. The well-being and safety of our research patients/ participants is at the heart of all we do as is our confidence that the data we provide is accurate and reproducible.

Post holders will need a valid UK driving license and must be willing to travel to various locations in and around Hampshire and Dorset.

Hours: There is no set shift rotation but the majority of the time you will work Monday to Friday 8-4 pm; however we expect that you will also work a variety of flexible hours including long days, nights, and weekends on an ad-hoc basis as per your research study requirements.

The role of the Paediatric Research Nurse is to:

Provide specialist research and clinical care to research participants.
Assist in the management, coordination and implementation of research programmes in accordance with the International Conference on Harmonisation/ Good Clinical Practice (ICH/GCP) and the UK Policy Framework in Health and Social Care.
Provide clinical supervision to other staff and students.
Assume day-to-day responsibility for specific research studies as delegated by the Research Sister/Charge Nurse/ Team Leader.
Develop and implement research study plans for delegated studies in liaison with the Pediatric Senior research team.
Facilitate effective communication of complex research study information with all relevant research personnel, including: medical, nursing, AHP, administrative, pharmacy staff and research participants (where appropriate).
Participate in the checking and administration of prescribed drugs (including controlled drugs / study drugs) and other substances in accordance with UHS policy and research protocols, having demonstrated relevant knowledge and competence in accordance with professional role and delegated duties.
Promote effective teamwork and support management of change within UHS.
The CRF has adult and paediatric ward beds plus consulting rooms, a physiology lab, a temperature-humidity controlled room and a bronchoscopy suite. The majority of research patients come from the Wessex region however the CRF is a national dosing centre for advanced therapy medication so patients come from all over the country for this treatment.
