Health and Safety Management o Promote good stakeholder involvement and good safety culture o Prepare and issue monthly health and safety briefing documents / toolbox talks o Keep health and safety information up to date, including all fire safety documentation (fire emergency plans, fire safety manuals etc.), the health and safety section of the intranet and shared documents o Carry out regular walkabouts, including at retail stores, keeping in touch with staff on their safety arrangements and ensuring control measures are in place and effective o Provide health and safety training and coaching on topics such as, but not limited to, general health & safety (induction and refresher training), fire safety, COSHH, risk assessing and manual handling o Develop and refresh internal online training to support staff learning experiences o Carry out general risk assessment, as required, with particular emphasis on retail, regulatory requirements, outings and the clinical environment. o Update fire risk assessments for low to medium-risk buildings, tracking completion of actions and updating compliance software o Manage COSHH risk assessments and the COSHH risk register, checking on suitable PPE and storage o Manage compliance with workstation assessments, including homeworking, using the external management system o Support teams, enabling them to carry out their risk assessments, including manual handling assessments for inanimate activities o Develop and keep up to date Safe Operating Procedures for health and safety. o To undertake other or additional duties that are within your skills and abilities, as the organisation may reasonably require from time to time. Skills and Responsibilities o Promote safe working practices if non-compliances are identified o Contribute to initiatives aimed at continuous improvement, openly encourage and recognise the contribution of others, giving constructive feedback o Consult with house managers / retail managers directly to obtain their feedback and escalate support as needed to the Head of Health & Safety. o Organise external training courses, such as fire extinguisher training and emergency first aid, liaising with the Training team o Manage the external training provision for display screen equipment and workstation assessment. o Carry out fire drills in accordance with the fire drill schedule, identifying learning outcomes and working with teams to ensure they can safely evacuate o Assist with accident / incident investigations under RIDDOR, as directed o Project work, as agreed with the Head of Health & Safety. o Support all teams, including the retail teams in achieving excellent health and safety standards Management of self and others o Consider the limits of your experience and knowledge and seek support when necessary Governance o Consider statutory requirements, guidance and best practice in all work undertaken o Ensure records are being kept complying with statutory requirements and in accordance with data protection policies o Keep up to date all documentation relating to fire o Document and evidence all work done in an appropriate format o Provide up to date information on performance in relation to own areas of responsibility. Health and Safety o Adheres to all Health and Safety guidelines, principles, and regulations to perform your role and comply with The Childrens Trust policies and procedures. o Provide evidence of all vaccinations (or medical exemption) required for the post. o Adhere to manual handling procedures and complete mandatory manual handling training. o Promotes the health and safety of others. o Uses the incident reporting and risk assessment system (IRAR), to identify and report risks and incidents/actions if directed. o Responsible for identifying and mitigating risk within the work environment.
