More detail about the role Our Senior Healthcare Support Workers (SHCSWs) form an essential and well-respected part of our healthcare teams across a number of dynamic settings; out in the community, in our acute hospitals or within our theatres teams to name just a few. The team This post is based with St Thomas Nursing team in the Community. This team are based at Osprey House and work with the GP practices in St Thomas Health and Exwick Health centres as well as Foxhayes Practice in Exwick, Exeter. This is an opportunity to expand your knowledge and skills as a Clinical Support Worker. Existing competencies in Venepuncture and wound dressing are essential. The post holder may participate in the assessment of care needs and the implementation of planned programmes of care working under the direction and delegation of the Specialist Nurse (Community) and other registered nursing staff within the team. This would include a development plan to gain competencies, for example; delegation under a planned competency framework to administer insulin to people with insulin dependent diabetes and to undertake catheterisation of female patients.. Communication and people skills are essential, along with a pleasant, helpful, calm manner when dealing with people on a daily basis. An understanding of prioritisation is also helpful. Administration duties would include the use of IT systems, primarily EPIC. Our teams are caring, compassionate and inclusive, so whatever your background, you will be made to feel very welcome. The Team work between 830-5pm and you will expected to work between 830pm-430pm five days a week across a seven day working week. If requested to do so you a my work weekends according to the needs of the Service. Depending on your shift pattern and working hours, you may also receive additional enhancements to your pay. If you join before the implementation date, the pay award will be backdated to your start date.
