The difference you will make as a Senior Surveyor – (Damp & Mould, Planned & Complex, Contract Management work streams)
The Senior Surveyor is responsible for the surveying function of the relevant workstream and is required to manage and continually develop the members of the team. Overseeing and conducting detailed surveys, assessments, and evaluations of properties to support the planning and execution of works projects. This role involves providing technical expertise, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and regulations. The Senior Surveyor plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of project specifications and contributes to the successful delivery of works projects along with quality and cost effectiveness of works and customer satisfaction. Delivering excellence in surveying and managing the overall delivery of projects.
Responsible for the measurement and agreement of works carried out and overseeing and managing the pre and post work inspection process. Ensuring all surveying procedures are being undertaken efficiently, in compliance with Company operating procedures and delivering best in class customer service, satisfying all safety, quality and cost control standards. The role will involve a close working relationship with the operational teams, contracts management team, subcontractors and the commercial team. You will prepare a variety of reports and ensure that the team comply with all relevant standards and regulations including HHSRS.
About you
We are looking for someone who has:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Professional certification (e.g., MRICS, MCIOB) is highly desirable.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in technical surveying within the construction or property services industry, with a focus on damp & mould, major works and capital projects.
- Qualified in HHSRS

Role Profile
- Surveying and Assessment:
- Conduct detailed building surveys, inspections, and assessments to gather accurate data and identify any defects or issues.
- Set the standard and continually improve the function and delivery of the surveying team
- Prepare comprehensive survey reports, including condition assessments, measurements, and recommendations for necessary works.
- Utilise surveying equipment and technology to capture precise data and ensure accurate documentation.
- Technical Support:
- Provide technical advice and support to the Team, including surveyors, resident liaison officer, site supervisors, and other stakeholders.
- Assist in the development of project specifications, scope of works, and technical documentation.
- Ensure all technical aspects of the project are compliant with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Project Planning and Coordination:
- Collaborate with the project team to develop detailed project plans, schedules, and resource allocations.
- Contribute to the preparation of project cost estimates, budgets, and financial forecasts.
- Coordinate with contractors and consultants to ensure the successful execution of technical aspects of the project.
4. Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Implement and maintain robust quality assurance processes to ensure all works meet or exceed industry standards and client expectations. Ensuring value for money is achieved
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to verify compliance with project specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Identify and rectify any quality issues or defects in a timely manner.
- Manage and monitor the pre, work in progress and post inspections conducted by the surveying team and provide timely reports on outcome of inspections, addressing any performance related issues
- Implement and maintain strong contract management of subcontractors delivering projects, ensuring value for money is achieved along with quality of works
- Review and agree/challenge contractors accounts including all variations in accordance with the contract requirements
5. Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all surveying activities, including drawings, plans, and technical reports.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on survey findings, project progress, and technical issues to the Operations Manager and other stakeholders.
- Ensure all documentation is organised and easily accessible for the team and stakeholders.
- Compile regular contractor performance reports highlighting areas of concern and provide full details of performance against targets along with key performance indicators.
6. Stakeholder Engagement:
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, contractors, and regulatory bodies, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Attend project meetings, provide updates on technical aspects, and address any issues or concerns raised by stakeholders.
- Facilitate collaboration between various teams and departments involved in the project.
7. Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on the latest surveying technologies, methods, and industry trends, and incorporate them into practice.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Participate in training and professional development activities to maintain and enhance technical skills and knowledge.
- Ensure internal business processes are followed in line with the Group’s policy, procedures and statutory requirements.
- Respond flexibly to any necessary changes in work priorities and undertake other duties when required to support the effective operation of the service.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Professional certification (e.g., MRICS, MCIOB) is highly desirable.
