An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Critical Care Technologist (Band 7) to join the Adult Critical Care team at The Royal London Hospital on a 6-month fixed-term contract, with the potential for the role to become permanent following the completion of team restructuring.

Reporting to the Service Manager for Medical Equipment (Theatres & Critical Care) and accountable to the Deputy Divisional Director of Operations Surgery, Peri-operative Medicine & Critical Care, the successful candidate will play a key leadership role in setting the strategic direction for the department. They will develop and implement collaborative plans between the Critical Care Tech Team and the Theatre Equipment team, both of which fall under the same directorate.

The post holder will also work closely with the Service Managers and clinical teams to support delivery of the Directorate’s long-term business objectives. Additionally, they will be responsible for the day-to-day management of technical services within Adult and Paediatric Critical Care Units (ACCU and PCCU), including clinical service planning and workforce coordination.


This is a 6 month position with the potential to become permanent once the restructuring of the ACCU team is complete. The post holder will be responsible for setting the strategic direction of the department and developing plans for the Tech Team to collaborate effectively with the Theatre Equipment team, as both falls under the same directorate. They will also liaise with the Service Manager to deliver the business plan in alignment with the long-term goals of the Directorate.

In addition, the post holder will be accountable for the day-to-day management of Critical Care services, including clinical service planning, workforce management and the coordination of all technical services across the Critical Care specialties (ACCU and PCCU).
